praying mantis

She's not really praying.

And if she was,

it would not be with the

reverence implied by the term.

Long slim scissor arms

preying to feed the cannibal soul

of one who will feed her head

with his head

while he feeds her eggs

with his sperm,

still pumping after decapitation

while she revels in satisfaction,

fertilized and fed

in one act

If she does pray,

it is for the sharp edge

of a stalker

stealth and camouflage

coupled with

bloodthirsty drive

The divination skills

of pure predator.
